Reid Isaiah- 14 Months!

Reid is 14 months today. He is a ball of energy and keeps me on my toes. He is currently cutting some more molars and not sleeping terribly great but in general he has started sleeping through the night more which is really nice.

Mommy is still Reid's #1 person but we can blame all that preference on the nursing that he is still doing 4-6 times a day. Although I am working on getting him weaned so I can go on a church trip in August. I don't think he is going to be too keen on this whole weaning business but we have 2 more months so it should be fine.

Recently Reid started saying his first word. What on earth could this little man possibly decide to say? The word "NO." That is about all he says too. Occasionally we will get a ma-ma or da-da. Nothing else. He is quite expressive with grunts and screaming and pointing though. Apparently that is all a little boy needs to do to get his way. And sadly he is mostly right. He is the most expressive pointer and grunter I have ever seen. It will be no time at all until he is actually talking I am sure. Until then I will just have to play interpreter.

Snuggle Time with Gwen

Gwen is my least snugly of all the kids. She has always been that way. Even as a tiny, tiny baby she wanted to be laid down to fall asleep on her own. She was my easiest to get to sleep through the night and incredibly easy to sleep train.

So today when she was upset and just crawled up on my lap for a good long snuggle it was kinda strange. Nice, but strange. She managed to stay on my lap for about 20 minutes. I think she was contemplating a nap but too much was going on around her to actually fall asleep.

Sweet Gwennie girl. I love her so much. Some day she will be too old to curl up on my lap. I am just enjoying the rare instances when they do happen now.

Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Ti

Our church has certain Sunday's with a kids worship team in the main church service. Not so much a choir, rather the kids are on a riser and they are part of the worship team. This is something that Andrew has NEVER been interested in. He doesn't even enjoy singing on stage for the VBS week or for Christmas. It just isn't his thing. Zane up until now has followed in Andrew's footsteps but I knew that he was a very different kid than Andrew and he adores being the center of attention. Well the day has finally arrived and Zane decided he wanted to be one of those kids who sing on stage. This Sunday will be his first time and I think he is very excited and maybe a little nervous. It will be lots of fun to see him up there though. I see a lot of drama/music potential in this little man...

Mr. Busy

I have known since Reid was quite young that he and Lucy had a lot of similar personality traits. They are both hot tempered, feisty, love to be snuggled and very, very busy.

A new milestone has been reached this week and I have to admit that I am not excited about it. Reid has figured out how to climb up onto our kitchen chairs. Which has resulted in him standing on the kitchen table and counter tops more than once.

This is not a good thing. Now I have to watch him like a hawk to make sure he isn't table dancing while I am in the other room. In the past 5 minutes he has probably fallen off the kitchen chair 6 times. Does that stop him? No. He just keeps climbing up, falling down, crying and repeating.

I barely made it through Miss Lucy and her busy little self. She is just now finally being semi self controlled. I am not looking forward to doing this with Reid!

Not Left Behind

With all the excitement around Zane riding on two wheels Gwen determined not to be outdone. She managed to figure out exactly how to pedal on a big kid bike.

Not that we are taking the training wheels off for awhile but it is still really cute to see 4 munchkins on wheels on the sidewalk in front of the house.

A New Era Has Begun

This morning Andrew needed to open a new jar of jelly for his toast. He asked if he could open the jar on his own and I said to give it a shot. One big twist and open it went. I will be sending all future jars to him now to be opened. Or at least I will let him have first crack at them. I am loving all these new milestones he is reaching. It is so much fun watching him grow up.

Sleepy Lady

After a morning with Lucy that began at 4:15, I made the executive decision to put her down for a nap rather than Gwen. Gwen is in that funny stretch of time where they still need a nap but when they take one it often makes bedtime very difficult. So occasionally the day will go by where I just let her stay up. Since my morning with Lucy was... challenging it seemed like a great day to go for Gwen staying up.

Right down for a nap went Lucy. No fuss, no fight. She knew she was tired and that it was a good thing. Zane and Gwen read some books and played for awhile. Then they watched some Tom and Jerry cartoons. The next thing I knew Gwen was passed out on the couch. Double Bonus! She really is a sweet little peanut when she is sleeping.
