Introvert vs. Extrovert

I don't remember what exactly we were talking about. It really could have been anything. But Zane was begging me to take his picture and post it on Facebook and this blog. He was beyond himself hoping for some media exposure. I laughed and told him that there was such a difference between him and Andrew. Andrew begs for me to not take pictures of him and spread him all over the internet. Two boys, SO different.

Looking for Answers

Reid has never had a good gut. He has never had a solid diaper in all of his almost 3 years of life. So since we are swiftly approaching the time of a toddlers life when one thinks about potty training, we need to figure out what is actually going on with him. We know he has a dairy allergy. He has been that way for all his life. But we think there must be something else that is upsetting his system. We have taken Reid in for some allergy testing. This testing included a blood draw, stool samples and a saliva sample. I was very worried about the blood draw but Reid did great! I got some lidocaine cream and it numbed him up great. He sat like a champ for the entire blood draw. The saliva sample? Oh my. That was an hour of him screaming as we syringed 5ml of saliva out of his mouth in the middle of swimming lessons. The poor little guy has not figured out how to spit yet and he kept swallowing it. Hopefully the tests will give us some good answers though. We find out at the end of February.

Lucy's Build a Bear Adventure

Notice the new purse wearing fashion. She is so funny!

Lucy got some gift cards to Build a Bear for her birthday and we went to use them today. She was a little unsure at first. We had never been to a Build a Bear and she didn't know what to expect.

After quite a bit of deliberation Lucy decided on pink Hello Kitty with hearts all over. Lucy picked out a special heart for her creation. It said 'One in a million' on it. She was very particular about which heart she wanted.

Hello Kitty got her stuffing and heart put inside. Lucy was pretty impressed with the process and loves that she gave her new friend a heart.

After a quick bath and a new outfit Lucy's new friend 'Hello Kitty Heart' was ready to come home. Lucy has some mad skills in the naming department.

Stair Climbing!!!

Ollie is determined to get moving and keep up with the big kids as fast as possible! He has started climbing the stairs. He doesn't quite get that he can't sit back on the steps without toppling backward but that will come. I just looked over at the steps and he was 3 steps up the large flight and headed on up. SIGH. Why can't he stay little just a wee bit longer?

Yoga with Daddy

Eric has been quite stiff and sore and we are trying to find something to help him not hurt so badly and yoga (as well as an upcoming doctor appointment) is where we are starting. The kids find the yoga so funny. They sit down with Eric and do all the moves with him. As long as they are entertained it all works for me. And since he has to spread out a mat every day it is a motivation to keep the floor picked up. That works for me too!

Mr. Tenderhearted

Zane has been very busy in second grade this year learning about many different things and different people. Currently his class is learning about Harriet Tubman and the underground railroad. Zane has been coming home and telling me about all the things that happened to Harriet Tubman and all the wonderful things that she accomplished during her life. And he has such a tone in his voice when he talks about her. Such sadness for the hardships she went through and such shock over how many people were enslaved at the time. I see him having the passion and drive to do great things in his life and the tender heart to make good choices for those in his world.

A Party for Lucy

It was a Lalaloopsy type of party for Lucy this year. I could not resist these Wizard of Oz themed figures for Lucy's cake.

There was cake and ice cream. There were presents and some new Lalaloopsy dolls for Lucy. There were lots of friends and family. It was a wonderful celebration.

Lucy Fern Turns 6!

A trip to Red Robin was in order to celebrate Lucy turning 6 years old. We brought presents to the restaurant so she could open them.

Lucy got lots of cute clothing, a new pair of boots a fun activity book and a diary so she can write all her thoughts. She really loves to write.

It was a great way to celebrate our sweet girl's birthday!

Time to Wrestle

Reid was being wild and to keep him from tearing the house down I asked Andrew to play with him. What did that mean to the 10 year old? Wrestling!

Ollie even wanted in on the action. Now that he is crawling he is very happy to get right in there with the big kids and be a part of the action.

At least the big boys took their glasses off...

The girls passed on the wrestling this time but they certainly wanted their pictures taken as well.

 Goofy ladies!

Just Like the Big Kids

Somebody crawled over to trampoline tonight and started playing with the toy cars. Who teaches little boys to move cars side to side and make motor noises? Is it DNA wired? Possibly yes. For sure Ollie was super proud of himself. He also pulled himself up several times today. This does not give me hope that he will stay just crawling for very long!

Living Doll

This Ollie boy is such a sweet man. He lets the kids carry him around all over the place. Now that he is mobile he may be a little less tolerant of being picked up and moved. But he may always be a snuggler. He certainly shows all the signs of it.
