Lucy's 7th Birthday

Lucy celebrated her 7th birthday with friends the weekend after her actual birthday. She was very excited to have a Frozen themed party. She managed to be easy on me with her cake decoration requests and just wanted sunshine and snowflakes. Easily done!

Helping Daddy

Reid helped Eric work on the car by jacking it up for him. He is so strong it is ridiculous. We are constantly amazed at how tough and strong Reid is for his age and his size.

This goes way beyond his goat milker hands. He is just strong all over and he knows it.

Lucy is 7

We had a small family celebration at Red Robin for Lucy on her birthday this year. Eric had to work so we snuck away to celebrate our special girl for lunch!

7 years old is such a big deal to me. It is like the final cross over from babyhood to big kid territory to me. I don't think there is anything magical that happens when my kids turn 7, rather I think it is a mental shift that I make in the way that I think about and train my kids. The initial hard work is done by the time they are 7. Basic character traits have been established and personalities have fully emerged. There are future changes and events and shifts that happen but this is a milestone age to me. Happy birthday my Lucy girl.

Daddy Daughter Dance

Today is the day my girls look forward to all year! The high school does an amazing job hosting a dance every January for dads and daughters. It means a lot to the girls that Eric takes them. It does not hurt that there are lots of cookies and cupcakes and punch. And this year the theme is Frozen. So that just adds to the excitement of the night. And let's not kid ourselves, any daddy that misses a Seahawks playoff game must be very committed to his baby girls. They are the priority and they know it.

First Haircut for the Ollie-wog

Ollie had been looking like a long haired hippy these days and I decided that we needed to finally do something about it.

Ollie was not exactly sure that he was ready to have his hair cut but he was a trooper as soon as the hair stylist gave him a sucker to eat. Now my baby looks like such a big boy. Bittersweet feelings over here for sure!
