Today Reid was playing outside with the big kids and suddenly we hear Andrew yell "MOM, DAD! Mayday, Mayday!" We looked out the window and saw him carrying a screaming Reid into the house. Reid was gushing blood from his head. Eric got up and ran to grab Reid from Andrew and took him to the sink. We got the bleeding slowed down and applied some ice. After it stopped pumping blood we found a small little hole in his head. We think he got hit in the head with a swing. No other kids were swinging so it must have just clipped him right. We took him in the walk-in-clinic and they determined that stitches would be more traumatic than the wound itself so they just put some steri-strips on it and called it good. Why do I think this will not be the last time that we see urgent care with Reid?

Almost Stitches
We have been ridiculously blessed to avoid stitches or broken bones thus far. But Reid, oh Reid, is determined to change it all for us.

Oliver Benjamin: 4 Weeks!
We had a checkup for Oliver today. He is growing really well just like I expected. He is an utter eating machine and is blowing out diapers left and right. Always a good sign with a newborn. He is on track with all the rest of the kiddos. They don't really start differentiating in size until closer to 4 months old.
Weight: 12 lbs .5 oz (95%)
Length: 22.5" (92%)

The Wretched Fly
Just as I was thinking that Reid was absolutely fearless, we have found something that completely freaks him out. With the weather being so beautiful we have been in and out of the house and our doors have not been getting shut tight consistently. This has resulted in a few flies getting in the house. Last night at bedtime Reid flipped out. He was sobbing and shaking he was so scared. We ultimately figured out that he had seen a fly and it was scary. After a lot of consoling and cajoling we got Reid back into his room and to sleep. Fast forward to 11:30 pm. Reid wakes up shrieking and sobbing that he is scared. After a long snuggle with Eric and then a second long snuggle with me we convinced him to go back to sleep. All was well today until nap time. I put him in bed no problem but within 5 minutes he was back downstairs sobbing and shaking again. I took him back upstairs and then I heard it. The buzzing sound of a fly caught in the blinds. I released the fly and watched it leave the room but Reid did not see it go. Then it took me 5 minutes to try and convince the boy that it was really gone. We sat and listened and couldn't hear anything anymore. He finally crawled into Zane's bed and went to sleep. Hopefully we are done with fly drama though! I don't know if I can take a whole summer of this.

Reid vs The Tub
Reid is not exactly mellow. He is very active and loves to play in the tub. He lost his balance tonight while standing up though and I think the side of the tub won.
I am so glad we had pictures taken before this happened. Somehow I think this bruise will be around for awhile!

Balding Baby Boy
Mr. Oliver is losing his hair. He looks just like a balding middle aged man. I am very curious about what his future hair is going to look like!
Zane the Guest Reader
Today Zane got to be the guest reader for his class. He was very excited to pick out a book and share with all his friends how much he loves to read. Originally he wanted to read "Horton Hatches the Egg" I ultimately vetoed the book because it is quite long and he would take forever to finish it. So instead he picked "Llama, Llama Home with Mama." It was a great choice. He did a wonderful job reading slowly and showing all the class the pictures. Somewhat of a surprise to me since he did not read slowly while practicing at home! The little kids and I got to go and listen to him too. It was a really fun morning and Zane got to show off Oliver and his sisters. He was quite the proud big brother!

A Little Walk
This morning I left the littles at home while I walked the boys to the bus. I am only gone for about 5 minutes so I feel pretty safe leaving everyone in the house. Even if Oliver is unhappy it is for a really short amount of time. Lucy really wanted to hold him while I was gone so I left her snuggling with Oliver. When I got back home Oliver and Lucy were very nicely sitting on the couch. He was totally calm and happy. And then Lucy told me, "He got a little fussy but we went on a little walk and he was happy."
I don't know what part I should be more terrified about. The fact that she took him on "a little walk" or the part where I worry about where exactly that walk went or how exactly she carried him the whole time. Sheesh. Oliver seems no worse for the walk and Lucy was as proud as could be that she took care of her baby brother. It could have been worse I guess. Reid could have tried to take him on a walk.
