Calvin Saves the Day

Reid has not been feeling well the last few days. He was running a fever and woke up in the middle of the night with some scary hallucinations of snakes and bees in the room. Eric and I were at a loss of what to do because Reid was very scared and until his fever went down the hallucinations continued. Eric took Reid downstairs to get some tylenol for him and in the process Calvin followed them. Reid kept screaming and shaking in fear and it wasn't until Eric told Reid that Calvin would eat any snakes and bees that were here that he finally calmed down. Reid would start to get worked up again and we would point to Calvin and ask if he was eating any snakes. Reid would say no and then we could convince him that what he was sure he was seeing was not real. Thank goodness that Calvin really has eaten a snake before and was around to convince Reid to not be so scared! This doggy of ours has been a keeper for sure.

Dropping Like Flies

The tooth fairy will be making a stop at our house tonight! Lucy is usually quite dramatic about losing teeth but she wiggled this one once and heard a crack. Then she wiggled it again and it was out! Six of her front teeth are gone now. She makes quite an adorable jack-o-lantern!

Thursday Adventures! Forest Park Edition

With school ending on Monday of this week I had not put a lot of thought into this summer's edition of our Thursday adventures. So we went with an easy and cheap activity that was guaranteed to please the whole crowd.

The kids love the spray park at Forest Park. It is so nice to not be worried about anyone drowning and the babies love it too. Last year Reid would not even touch the water but this year he was right in the thick of it playing and getting sprayed.

 And of course the park is a huge hit as well. So many toys to play with and so many different kids to play with as well. This summer is starting off quite nicely. Now to plan for the rest of our adventures!

The Little Pilot

 Ollie is getting so big. We pulled out a bin of toys tonight and he sat and played with Reid and Gwen like he was a preschooler too. They really do grow up so fast. Ollie is climbing things and starting to run. Why can't he just stay little?

Class of 2021

Andrew graduated from 5th grade today. No more elementary school for him. He is headed to middle school. I was surprised at the ceremony today to see him speaking on the microphone! He presented part of his class top 10 list of memories from 5th grade. He talked about the class trip to the middle school and how relieved he was to be able to experience it before the fall.

He walked through the balloon arch of his elementary school colors and then through the balloon arch of the middle school colors. It was simple symbolization but very sweet.

Andrew had an amazing year in 5th grade. His teacher was fantastic and so very sweet. I am secretly hoping now that all my kids have her. She was really wonderful. Great job Andrew! Middle school is going to be great!

Happy Father's Day

Today we celebrated Eric. What can I say that I haven't already said about this man that we have been blessed with as the daddy in our life? He is the best. Period. He loves us, cares for us, provides for us, is there for us always. Our world is better when he is here and he is dearly missed when he is away from us. Thank you Jesus for a man like Eric. We couldn't ask for anyone better.

A Track Meet for Andrew

Our community has some wonderful events for elementary kids for free! In the fall there is always a cross country meet for the kids and today there was a first ever track meet for kids 4th-6th grade.

Andrew was excited to participate and try out all the events. He participated in all seven events that they offered. 60m, 200m, 800m, 6om hurdles were the track events.

The field events were the long jump, the shot put and the javelin throw. Andrew had a great time and was successful at them all to varying degrees. He did get a ribbon for each event and he was very excited about that!

We are very excited for the event next year!
