Bowling! A Thursday Adventure

 The weather was horrid. It has been a monsoon for two days straight but Thursday adventures can be flexible so we headed to Strawberry Lanes to knock some pins over.

 The kids really enjoy bowling. The little ones have enough attention span for just under one game so it manages to be a not terribly spendy activity either.

 Oliver and Grandma Meow did not bowl. They cheered from the spectator seats. Zane was on fire today! He threw seven spares and was very energetic about it too!

 Lucy also had a great time. She did so much better this time but we are still very grateful for the bumpers.

Watching the ball return never, ever, ever gets old.

The final score was a pretty good reflection of all our abilities. Zane really did have a great game and Gwen was very determined to throw most of the balls herself. She did not strand any balls in the lane this time so she is getting stronger and better at bowling. I usually helped Reid roll his ball down the lane. He really isn't a whiz at 3 years old!

Summer Camp

Andrew headed off to summer camp today with his good buddy Michael. He was very excited and a bit nervous but super ready to have a great time! He said, "See you sucker." As I gave him a hug goodbye. Clearly he was ready to do this summer camp thing. I can't wait until he gets home to hear about all the fun things he got to do!

Pack of Puppies

They are just like puppies sometimes. I love the whole lot of them!

What a Nut!

Reid is known for being found in strange places at night but this took the cake! Usually he moves  back into his bed to actually fall asleep.

Apparently not tonight! Shockingly he slept in this bin until about 3 am. I have no idea how he got any quality sleep at all.

Thursday Adventure: Kayak Point

The kids and grandma Meow and I all loaded up the van and headed off to Kayak Point for our adventure today.

This is becoming one of my favorite beaches to go to! It is shallow water which keeps my stress meter low and today, with the weather starting out as overcast, it was very uncrowded which was great!

 Once the sun started peeking out the kids wanted to try the water out. They looked for shells and jumped the waves from speeding by boats and jet ski's.

Even Ollie got in the mix of playing in the water too. He was so happy to be part of the bigger kids crew!

This is one of the adventures I can see us doing year after year. It really never gets old and the view is breathtaking!

7's Birthday

Ever since school let out Lucy has been talking about 7's birthday. Of course what she means by 7's birthday is free slurpee day at 7-11. And since today was the day we of course went to get our free treat! The line was around the inside of the store but we would not be swayed! Slurpees for everyone. Summer rocks.

Beaver Lake Hike: A Thursday Adventure

We packed up a picnic lunch and took off for a hike to Beaver Lake for our weekly adventure. The kids were very excited to head out into the woods to see all there was to see.

I knew hiking would not be an Ollie type of activity but the ergo came in super handy and he was very content in it while we walked.

The hike was 4 miles round trip with almost no elevation gain. Perfect for a crew with short legs and energy levels with limited capacities.

 I got the anticipated meltdown right before lunch but we pushed on to the end of the trail (at the river) and sat for a quick picnic lunch. Ollie was thrilled to be out of the ergo for a few minutes. Just as it got super buggy we hopped back on the trail and headed back to the van.

Four exhausted little kids were out in minutes, while the big two read the whole way home. It was a perfect adventure!
