This was the actual dedication. We had a lot of friends and family there for the big event which meant a whole lot to both Eric and myself. Here Pastor Eric is praying for Lucy and our family. We got to pick a life verse for her just like we have for the boys as well.
Lucy's verse is Matthew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." We picked the verse because Lucy means light and I couldn't get the concept of her being a light to the world out of my mind.
Zane's verse is Isaiah 58:11 "The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail." We picked this verse for Zane because it talks of strength and I feel that Zane will be someone who is strong not just physically but also strong mentally and with great resolve to stand up to opposition. That stubborn trait has to develop into something positive right? :)
Andrew's verse is Psalm 25:4-5 "Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long." This verse I picked for Andrew because I feel that he will be a follower of God his whole life. He has great compassion and I believe he will take that gifting and use it for God's purposes in his life.
So, there you go! Now you know all the kids verses and why they were chosen. God didn't give these verses in vain. I truly believe that each of my children are destined for greatness in God's kingdom. Eric and I just have to do our best with the help and prayers of our friends and family.

I love the idea that you have verses specifically for each kid. We had thought about dedicating Gabe this weekend, but it didn't work out because Joanna's sister and family is in California for our niece's wedding. Too bad we didn't go to second service. Lucy is adorable.
I am also sorry that we missed the dedication! I LOVE the life verses for each child. I started a prayer journal for each child and talk about them at different times in their lives in these journals, praying scriptures over them. I think I got the idea from a book about praying for your children. But my thoughts in it are very unorganized and I haven't even started Gabe's yet! So anyway, I love the life verses and your thoughts here about each child. Do you scrapbook? Lucy in your dedication outfit is absolutely beautiful!
